ACM stands for aluminum composite material — two thin sheets of aluminium bonded to a solid polyethylene or fire-rated mineral core. The result is a panel that looks like solid metal but weighs a fraction of it, stays perfectly flat across large spans, and can be routed and folded into crisp architectural shapes. It is the cladding you see on modern commercial buildings, clinics, car dealerships and, increasingly, on custom homes across the Lower Mainland. Why ACM panels suit BC's coastal climate
Rain is the deciding factor on this coast. ACM panels are installed as a rainscreen — they hang on an aluminium sub-frame with a drained and ventilated cavity behind them, so any water that gets past the face has a clear path back out and the wall behind stays dry. That cavity is the main reason ACM outperforms cladding fixed directly to the sheathing in a climate like ours.
The aluminium face carries a factory-applied PVDF coating — the same finish chemistry used on premium metal roofing. It does not chalk, fade or need repainting the way a site-applied finish does, and it handles salt air without breaking down. That matters on the North Shore and anywhere close to the water.
Because the panels are cut and folded to your measurements before they arrive on site, we can wrap columns, run continuous soffits and detail around windows, canopies and signage without the extra seams and joints other systems force on you. The wall reads as one clean surface instead of a patchwork.
Where we install ACM panels
Facade cladding — full or partial wall coverage on commercial, mixed-use and modern residential buildings.
Soffits and fascia — flat, clean undersides on overhangs and canopies, with fascia finished to match.
Column wraps — square or round structural columns finished so they read as solid metal.
Parapet caps and roof edge — where the wall meets the roof. This is the junction most trades get wrong, and where a lot of leaks start.
Signage backing and entry features — panel backdrops for building identity and storefronts.
That last point is why it is worth having a roofing company do this work. The transition from ACM cladding into the roof membrane is the detail that decides whether a wall stays dry, and it usually falls between two trades who each assume the other handled it.
